Cloud Storage
On this page
Connect your own cloud storage if you want to keep job photos and notes there. You do not need a Joblens account. Your phone connects to the provider you choose.
Connect a provider
- Open Settings > Cloud storage.
- Choose Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Nextcloud.
- Follow the provider's steps to allow Joblens to connect. Nextcloud also asks for your server address.
- Return to Joblens and tap Sync now.
- Check the results before relying on the cloud copy.
Only one provider is used for syncing at a time. You need your own account with that provider, enough storage space, and an internet connection to sync.
Check your photos have synced
Open Settings > Cloud storage to see progress and anything that needs attention. Tap Activity to review what happened.
A Synced badge means the photo is on this phone and in your connected cloud storage. A Cloud-only badge means it is in cloud storage and can be downloaded to this phone. See Symbols for other badges.
You can keep taking photos and writing notes while offline. Changes wait until the app can sync. Do not assume waiting changes have reached your cloud storage.
Check your cloud files again
Tap Rescan beside your selected provider to check for Joblens content in that storage. If Joblens asks you to choose a folder, select the Joblens folder you want to use and wait for the check to finish.
If a previous attempt failed, the main button may say Retry failed instead of Sync now. Read the message in Activity, fix the problem, then try again.
You can export the activity log to save or share it. Clearing the log only clears the activity list; it does not cancel changes waiting to sync.
When two versions are different
If Joblens asks you to review a difference, open Review and compare the versions before choosing:
- Keep local (this phone) keeps this phone's version and updates the cloud during syncing.
- Use [provider] uses the version in that provider on this phone.
- Keep both preserves both versions. If one version was deleted, an edited copy can be kept.
Read the explanation in the app carefully, especially when a photo or note has been deleted. If you review several items together, the same choice applies to all selected items.
Disconnect a provider
Disconnecting removes that provider's connection from this phone. It does not delete your photos and notes from the phone or delete files in your cloud storage.
If you want to remove cloud files, manage them separately with your provider. Before changing providers, check your important files and keep another copy.
If syncing stops
Check your internet connection and available space. Open Activity for the message. If your provider asks you to connect again, follow its steps. See Fix a problem for more help.
Keep another copy
Cloud syncing can fail or be delayed. Keep a separate copy of important work, and check the files are where you expect before deleting or archiving phone copies.
